Harvest Oak Manufacturing Stays Environmentally Friendly

In today’s competitive homebuying market, builders and sellers are well-aware of the demand for environmentally friendly products and materials. Harvest Oak Manufacturing proudly produces moulding and related products that boast low carbon footprints. Harvest Oak Manufacturing’s Environmentally Friendly Molding Plays a Role in Green Building Trend.

“We have stayed ahead of the curve in this regard,” Harvest Oak President Jamie Brock said. “It has been something the customer was demanding, so it was something we wanted to do.”

Since the company’s inception, Harvest Oak Manufacturing has taken its dedication to environmentally friendly manufacturing practices seriously. For instance, Harvest Oak invested in new spray equipment that features low pressure and very low volumes of emissions.

Through its partnership with Sherwin-Williams, Harvest Oak Manufacturing also utilizes stains, paints and other products with low volatile organic compounds (low VOC). These products typically use water or acetone as a base, which does not count against emissions standards.

Harvest Oak Manufacturing is following the growing trend of eco-friendly homebuilding by creating products that are environmentally sustainable. In September 2017, Builder magazine reported on a new study by Dodge Data & Analytics and the National Association of Home Builders that found at least one third of single family and multifamily builders surveyed said green building accounts for more than 60 percent of their portfolio. By 2022, this number should increase to almost one half of builders in both construction sectors.

The Green Multifamily and Single Family Homes 2017 SmartMarket Brief also discovered that 52 percent of homebuilders recognize Sherwin-Williams as a top-of-mind brand for green products in the paint/wall finishes category. Considering Harvest Oak Manufacturing’s longstanding partnership with Sherwin-Williams, you can rest assured that our moulding and trim products will fulfill the eco-friendly needs for your clients’ projects.

In the future, Harvest Oak Manufacturing may invest in ultraviolet (UV) finishing, which is 99 percent solid material, making for an extremely environmentally friendly option. Traditional lacquers and topcoats release a great deal of VOCs into the air when used to finish wood products.

According to Woodshop News, UV coatings can be 100 percent solids in liquid form – the thickness of what is deposited on the wood is the same as the thickness of the cured coating. That means there is nothing to evaporate, and solvents or water can be added as thinners, and must be allowed or made to evaporate before the UV curing begins.

Whatever the future holds for environmentally building products, materials and manufacturing practices, Harvest Oak Manufacturing always will be a trusted resource for builders who want to reach this growing demographic of homebuyers.
